Penny Mitchell Star Wrestler

Surprises in life are wonderful aren’t they?

What are some surprises that you were elated about in the past?

Was it a blind date set up by a friend where the person met was far better than expected? On a test score you scored far higher than originally thought? You bought a property and when it came time to sell, the market value was at least 25% higher than what you estimated? You come home from high school and there is a car in the driveway and you find out it’s yours?

Other times we love consistency.

The secret to winning is constant, consistent management.….Tom Landry

Think of some of the areas where that is desired.

Foremost is the behavior of someone we love in our important relationships. Time tables in the business world in terms of office hours, customer service and product reliability are essential. The ability of our car to get us from point A to B every day is mandatory.

What I loved about the great 1980’s wrestler Penny Mitchell was that she was very consistent in her wrestling performance. She didn’t exhibit over the top characters but you knew whoever stepped into the ring with her was going to get a great workout; and you as a fan, your money’s worth.

I also loved the way that Penny looked in a full bathing suit with her strong sexy legs that fit perfectly in her wrestling boots.

I saw photos of her wrestling my favorite sweet shapely Pittsburgh Princess, Angie Minnelli in what looked like an extended ground war and the shots of those two shapely beauties in battle was priceless.

Penny’s other contemporaries where Judy Martin, Debbie Combs, Leilani Kai, Candice Pardue, Velvet McIntyre, Desiree Peterson, Peggy Lee Leather and of course the great Fabulous Moolah.

Her battles against Moolah are legend. There were lots of flips, body splashes and chokes but Penny always managed to come up a little short.

For me the challenge isn’t to be different but to be consistent.…..Joan Jett

Penny hails from Springfield Missouri.

Springfield is the third largest city in the state of Missouri and the county seat of Greene County. According to the 2010 census data, the population was 159,498, an increase of 5.2% since the 2000 census. The Springfield Metropolitan Area has a population of 436,712 and includes the counties of Christian, Dallas, Greene, Polk and Webster. Springfield’s nickname is the Queen City of the Ozarks and is known as the Birthplace of Route 66 as well as the home of several universities including Missouri State University, Drury University, and Evangel University.

Thank you Wikimedia.

That’s a good starting place but there is so much more to do in Springfield. The educational site springfieldmo.org shares the expansion. “Venture out during the day. Play among Missouri’s many natural wonders on a weekend getaway. Visit an amusement park, see a show or take in a festival. Head to Branson and back. If you enjoy the outdoors, you’ll find more than 7,500 miles of shoreline along accessible lakes and floatable streams and rivers within minutes of the city. Urban trails, conservation areas, hunting, camping and fishing are never too far away.

At night, the town is yours. Springfield offers a unique mix of large-city amenities and hometown hospitality evident within great restaurants, museums and an eclectic mix of shops and attraction. There’s something for everyone, and always with a pace that encourages you to take your time. To enjoy the surprises around each corner.”

Let’s appreciate our tax dollars at work as springfieldmo.gov reassures you that your decision to visit Springfield is a good one.

“Welcome to Springfield, Mo.!

With more than 440,000 people in the metro area, Springfield is where the rolling hills of the Ozarks plateau form a surprisingly modern and green city.

A “big, small town,” Springfield offers a great blend of fascinating attractions, historical treasures, sports excitement and cultural and leisure activities in a welcoming environment. The city offers 102 parks, including a linear trail system that integrates with the city’s growing on-street bike route system; an airport; an art museum; a zoo; the Springfield Lasers professional tennis team; the Springfield Cardinals minor-league baseball team and is home to Bass Pro Shops, Missouri State University, Drury and Evangel universities and the Assemblies of God USA.

Springfield/Greene County is the only municipality in the nation with a Gold Medal Award-winning parks and recreation department, American Chamber of Commerce Executives Chamber of the Year award and accreditation in law enforcement, fire, emergency management, environmental services and public works.

Springfield Public Schools is Missouri’s largest fully accredited school district.  More than 24,000 students attend 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school (grades 5-6), nine middle schools, five high schools, Phelps Center for Gifted Education and an Early Childhood Center.

The school system offers more than a dozen programs that cater to the diverse needs of students, including the International Baccalaureate program, Wonders of the Ozarks Learning Facility (WOLF), and the Middle College Program. All five district high schools are designated Missouri A+ Schools.

Casual dining, upscale bars and restaurants, antique shops, trendy clothing, art galleries and a public art and sculpture tour make downtown Springfield a great place to live and visit.”

For changes to be of any true value, they’ve got to be lasting and consistent.……Tony Robbins

Penny was willing to take her lumps and bruises for the cause but some of her signature wins in singles matches were over tough lady pro Judy Martin. Some of her greatest tag team triumphs was when she partnered with Velvet McIntyre to defeat the powerful duo of Joyce Grable and Wendi Richter, otherwise known as The Texas Cowgirls and when she teamed with Susan Starr they surprisingly gained a major victory over Judy Martin and the all-time champion, The Fabulous Moolah.

Penny Mitchell was a steady performer that will always be remembered with admiration. Her consistency in the squared circle along with her talent and beauty propelled her to the category that those of us who enjoyed her professionalism knew that she would someday attain.

Legend.

Anita Fun Euro Wrestler

The widely admired Edward Estlin Cummings (October 14, 1894 – September 3, 1962), known as E. E. Cummings, with the abbreviated form of his name often written by others in lowercase letters as e e cummings, was an American poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright. His body of work encompasses approximately 2,900 poems, two autobiographical novels, four plays and several essays, as well as numerous drawings and paintings. He is remembered as an eminent voice of 20th century English literature.

He was once quoted as saying, “The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.

When watching the talented Hungarian wrestler Anita, one thing that you notice is that she has a great sense of humor.

She is also a great wrestler as well.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, DWW photo

Here are some of her match reviews.

“Young and strong Anita versus her wrestling teacher Viktoria! Anita is very strong and extremely skilled even at her young age. We all know perfectly well that Viktoria is the best wrestler of the HWW team and that she’s very strong, skilled and fit although she already belongs to our elder generation of wrestlers. This is a very interesting “old vs young” competition and it once again is proving us that age isn’t decisive when two women are wrestling. Will the coach be able to show her wrestling student that she’s still the stronger and better woman? As always there’s technically skilled, controlled, purist and straight world class wrestling performance when two HWW wrestlers are wrestling each other.”

That turned out to be a much tougher match than many expected. It speaks to Anita’s ability to learn quickly and adapt. Here is a description of another match.

“Young Anita is much heavier than Antscha. We interviewed Antscha before the match and sometimes between the falls and she confirms that Anita is stronger than her but that she needs to use her skills and the experience of the mature woman for having a chance. This is truly a match between two generations as Antscha is more than 12 years older than Anita. Anita is also much bigger than Antscha and she’s a skilled and aggressive fighter. This is an exciting and very even match with 5 great submissions between two very strong women.”

That match occurred when Anita was only 18 years old against the experienced and exceptional wrestler Antscha.

What is fun about Anita’s matches is though clearly she wants to win; still her competitions are laced with humor and bantering. In one case when a thirty something mom wanted to give wrestling a try, Anita easily could have dominated her in a brutal fashion but instead while she was clearly in control and winning, she began to tickle our sexy adventurous mom as well.

When someone can keep you laughing as much as Anita does, wouldn’t it be great to meet her at a coffee shop with friends and share a few laughs? Why don’t we travel to Anita’s home country and relax at a few of the coffee shops.

Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not; a sense of humor to console him for what he is.……Francis Bacon

The fun and entertaining site visitbudapest.travel makes for an excellent coffee companion.

Budapest has always been big on cafés and in the last couple of years the coffee scene has expanded with a number of new independent coffee shops brewing excellent java. If you are looking for creative alternatives to those ubiquitous chains, here are some of the best places to satisfy your caffeine craving.

“You’ll find serious coffee skills at Espresso Embassy, with its pour over, siphon and cold drip options at the brew bar. Dedicated staff (champion baristas among them), beautifully executed coffee and a selection of baked goods make this café a roaring success. Try their espresso, cortado, flat white or café latte and you’ll keep coming back. Add free WiFi and the posh design and you’ll never want to leave.

It’s no surprise Tamp & Pull is one of the best coffee shops in Budapest. Founder Attila Molnár, a barista champion himself, is focused on the output of a premium product. He serves three different Has Bean beans changing every month, roasted by British roast master Stephen Leighton. The espresso bar offers a variety of brewing methods for true coffee enthusiasts. Not only does Tamp & Pull make a perfect cup of coffee, they offer barista and brewing classes too.

Inspired by a trip to Melbourne, this cozy little café in Madách tér has a passion for great coffee. My Little Melbourne is known for its advanced latte art and delicious espresso-based drinks. The brew bar offers syphon, chemex, aeropress or pour over methods. A variety of teas, freshly made juices, pastries, salads and sandwiches complement the excellent coffee.

Probably the smallest coffee shop in town, Fekete is committed to fair-trade coffee and locally sourced ingredients, like farmer’s milk from Etyek. Their delicious coffee is made with a La Marzocco machine. Take your beverage to go, or opt for some street-side seating and people watching.”

The informative site budapestbylocals.com provides us with a little history. “Coffee culture was thriving in Budapest from around the early 1910’s until the beginning of the 1930’s. In this era the around 500 cafés were scattered around the city.

They served as common meeting places of talented writers, poets and artists. Some of them spent most of the day in their favorite place, musing or writing at their regular tables.”

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person.….Audrey Hepburn

Now they can serve as a watering hole for great female wrestlers as well.

It’s funny, refreshing and entertaining to watch our Hungarian star Anita wrestle. Our suggestion is, while you sit back to enjoy Anita compete, bring a cup of coffee and sense of humor with you as well.

Orsi, Euro Wrestling Star

The super star Hungarian wrestler and creative soul, Orsi loves to participate in the little known but effective school of martial arts called Ninjutsu.

Ninjutsu sometimes used interchangeably with the modern term ninpō is the strategy and tactics of unconventional warfare and guerrilla warfare as well as the art of espionage purportedly practiced by the shinobi (commonly known outside of Japan as ninja).

fciwomenswrestling.com article, dwwgalaxy photo

Ninjutsu was more an art of tricks than a martial art. Ninjutsu was a separate discipline in some traditional Japanese schools, which integrated study of more conventional martial arts along with shurikenjutsu, kenjutsu, sojutsu, bōjutsu, battlefield grappling kumi-uchi (an old form of jujutsu) and others.

A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others…………….Ayn Rand

The discipline seems intriguing and alternative but at least in Orsi’s case, it seems to work wonderfully.

Orsi mainly wrestles in Europe and here are a list of competitors that she has engaged that fill out her formidable resume. Ready? Kimbra, Pamela, Antscha, Viktoria M, Zsuzsa, Sofia C, Reni, Antonia, Vladka, Leslie, Miriam, Viktoria, Sofia B, Kati K, Giulia, Nici, Karine, Bea S, Angie and Orsi S.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, dwwgalaxy photo

Kimbra is widely known as one of the best wrestlers today. Here is a match description when these two titans met.

“This was one of the best matches of this event and probably one of the best matches of the last 24 months. Both Orsi S. and Kimbra gave their very best wrestling performance ever. There’s top skills, incredible power, aggression, ambition, stamina, unbelievable endurance and activity in this match, something you’d hardly ever seen before. The ups and downs of each wrestler are changing permanently and once you’d strongly believe that there would be no other option for the poor struggling victim than to submit immediately, she can suddenly turn the tables and the aggressor is in immediate serious trouble, and it turns again and again and again.

You’ll be excited when watching this very long match since there won’t be a single minute when you’ll be bored. We’re giving our sincere compliments to these two real female warriors. If you’re a true female wrestling fan then you shouldn’t miss to watch this match immediately since it’s probably one of the best matches ever filmed in our 20 years female wrestling history! This incredible match is definitely one of the collector’s classics of the century.”

Wow, what a salesperson. That is a match for everyone’s collection.

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things.……Steve Jobs

Karine is widely respected as one of the best female submission wrestlers to ever come out of Germany. Here is the match description between two tough Euro stars.

“The match between Orsi-K and German girl Karine is a fantastic match, and it is an even match. Both are very strong and muscular women. It’s fantastic to see, when their biceps are flexing during the match and their arms and shoulders are working. Orsi-K is much taller than Karine, both are experienced wrestlers. The match starts with a headlock attack from Karine, she came on top first, but Orsi-K know what to do and use her powerful legs for a fantastic body scissors, but Karine fights back and made very fantastic headlocks in this even match. It’s great to see the emotions, when Karine is over Orsi-K and to see, when Orsi-K is “working” to escape from the powerful headlocks from Karine. Of course Orsi-K try every time to use her scissors for making points, but Karine was in good form. And both girls were fighting to win this match.
You see hard headlocks, great body scissors, pin counts, emotions and 5 points. The winning point is with the last hold in this great match with 2 beautiful and strong wrestlers.
After the match the winner shows her strong biceps.”

A lover of sports, climbing and making music, Orsi uses her creative side to exact victories in her wrestling as well. Along with being quick and with great reactions, Orsi is very fit as well.

One more match description speaks to this.

“While Pamela seems to be stronger and of course bigger than Orsi, Orsi is the more experienced and more skilled wrestler as she’s wrestling already three years longer than Pamela who had just started to wrestle a few months ago. You won’t be surprised that both women do not only use their skills, their strong legs and their strong arms.”

In reviewing a myriad of Orsi’s matches you’ll find that Orsi defeats the girls that she is supposed to but is inconsistent with those closer to her level. The surprise match for us was when she faced the American Trinity.

Trinity had been in a very tough match with Bori, one of the Hungarian female wrestling leaders and appeared to annoy the Hungarian star and received a fairly thorough beating as a result.

When it came time to meet Orsi, Trinity’s street style and aggressiveness seemed to intimidate Orsi who clearly did not wrestle at her best. Having said all of that, it was still one very entertaining match.

The highest levels of performance come to people who are centered, intuitive, creative, and reflective – people who know to see a problem as an opportunity.…..Deepak Chopra

Orsi has been a long time star on the women’s wrestling scene and FCI would like to congratulate her on her endurance and mostly stellar performances. A student who is trying to increase her choices and options, Orsi seems to exemplify what we love about women’s wrestling.

She’s talented, fit, bright, smart, beautifully and uniquely creative. That is a wonderful profile to hang on any female sports industry’s mantle.

Kimbra Wrestler Hungary

A skilled application of wrestling holds, exceptional perseverance, mental toughness and a keen sense of how to close out a submission move is the hallmark qualities of a competitor who has been trained in the elite DWW women’s wrestling program.

Being trained in the DWW program is like participating in the SEC in college football, Tennessee and UConn in women’s collegiate basketball or Oklahoma, Brock, Simon Fraser and King University in women’s collegiate freestyle wrestling. When you can excel in their programs, you can perform at an elite level anywhere else.

Kimbra is one of the newer generations of DWW graduates and regarding her tough wrestling style, praise is coming in from all over the globe and more importantly outside of the local tribe.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, DWW photo credit

This is what one of the industry leaders, London Wrestling Studios had to say about our DWW gladiator. “As far as we know, this is KIMBRA’s first trip to the UK!  You may also know KIMBRA as Roxy – she has starred in many European wrestling videos over the year, starting off her career with the famous DWW.  She’s beautiful, tall, strong, and aggressive, as we saw in person when we met her at the Femwrestle event earlier in the year – you can see her wrestling our very own Isabella in the gallery photos.”

Let’s listen to another reviewer shout out Kimbra’s praise. “I’ve seen a few of Kimbra’s other matches, so I knew she was skilled, and from the preview clips, you can tell that she was able to give Tiffany at least a somewhat hard time. Even so, I was expecting this to be a mostly one-sided match with Kimbra fighting hard but ultimately overmatched by Tiffany. I was quite wrong.

Kimbra has improved by leaps and bounds, it seems, because this is an extremely evenly matched battle. Despite a 12kg (28 lb.) weight disadvantage, Tiffany has her hands full the entire time. Headlocks, body and head scissors, and straddles are the primary weapons the two women use against each other. At one point between falls, when asked, Tiffany very emphatically says that Kimbra is stronger than Petra to give you an idea of how far she’s come.”

This writer first saw Kimbra as Roxy as well, mostly wrestling for Female Wrestling Zone. She was good but in my opinion, not DWW elite level good.

Over the years she has clearly improved to the point that her matches are comparative to that of the elite. The key is how she has evolved to the level where she doesn’t just defeat opponents but dominates the newer and higher skilled competitors alike.

When she wrestled the very feminine, huggable, sexy DWW Rose Tekla, she completely dominated her as expected, but did so with a gentle, master’s touch.

What is more impressive is how she is now fighting outside of the pond, specifically in Germany at femwrestle.com where her reputation is growing. Anyone who saw what occurred between Kimbra and LWS journey level fighter Xena can’t help but be impressed. Xena is a sexy woman with thick, beautiful, powerful thighs (the better to scissor you with my dear) who found herself in over her thighs and head with the vastly improved Kimbra.

The name Kimbra is an English baby name and in many circles means from the royal forest meadow. One site is so enthralled with the name they even profile the women who possess it and I have to admit, in watching Kimbra wrestle, it seems like so much applies.

The interesting site sheknows.com expresses, “People with this name tend to be passionate, compassionate, intuitive, romantic, and to have magnetic personalities. They are usually humanitarian, broadminded and generous, and tend to follow professions where they can serve humanity. Because they are so affectionate and giving, they may be imposed on. They are romantic and easily fall in love, but may be easily hurt and are sometimes quick-tempered.”

Wow, magnetic personality. This certainly describes Kimbra. Here is how another reviewer described Kimbra. “Kimbra has lost some weight and buffed up so she looks great and has a lovely radiant smile (especially when she is inflicting pain!).”

Here is her impressive resume of competitors who have felt a taste of the Kimbra! She’s wrestled Antscha, Renata B, Tiffany, Denise, Orsi S, Reni, Dani, Viktoria M, Kata, Sofia C, Jana N, Gloria, Antonia among others.

Her matches tend to garner a lot of industry attention, especially the one against Reni where Reni decided to stop the match prematurely. Here is how one reviewer describes it. “The conclusion of this match was very disappointing in my opinion. One wrestler started playing the role of turtle (Kimbra), and then employed a vicious kick to keep her opponent off from her.

This act demonstrated a clear lack of sportsmanship, and I do not blame the other wrestler for wanting an immediate ending for the match. For this reason, I gave this match 3 stars. Hopefully the wrestler using the kicking maneuver learned a valuable lesson and will not attempt such shenanigans in the future.”

Shenanigans! Wow what a term. That’s right up there with flabbergasted.

No one could accuse Kimbra of being passive in her matches. Here is one more review emanating from the German club femwrestle.com. “This is again one of the absolute top matches of the March 2014 event. Kimbra from Hungary vs Isabella form Honey Team LWS London. A description of this fight is not real possible, rough, fast and hard. Not often you will see such a match, a fan of female wrestling hast to watch this real comp fight.”

Yes, Kimbra represents Hungary well.

The temptation when you want to describe this beautiful nation is to focus on its abundance of soothing thermal spas and the magnificent capitol city of Budapest. Since so many great female wrestlers like Viktoria M come from there; thus far that’s what we have done.

At Female Competition International, one of our goals when writing articles is to educate and show our readers the beautiful global community in which women’s wrestling thrives. So to expand our reach and your mind, we’ve decided to introduce you to the second largest city in Hungary.

Without looking it up, do you know the name?

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia photo

The informative site geonames.org explains, “Debrecen (pronunciation: [ˈdɛbrɛtsɛn] is the second largest city in Hungary after Budapest. Debrecen is the regional center of the Northern Great Plain region and the seat of Hajdú-Bihar county. It was the largest Hungarian city in the 18th century and it is one of the most important cultural centers of the Hungarians.

Debrecen was also the capital city of Hungary during the revolution in 1848-1849 and by the end of the World War II in 1944-1945.

The city used to be somewhat isolated from Budapest, Hungary’s main transport hub. However, the completion of the motorway M35 means Budapest can now be reached in under two hours.”

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia photo

Kimbra may have known that, but did you?

Here is another interesting fact about Debrecen.

It’s originally built in the middle of nowhere. Literally. The educational site wikitravel.org wonders, “They used to say “who in their sane mind would build a city in the middle of nowhere where there are no mountains, forests, water or roads?”. Very good question. That’s the way it was, but it is not that way now.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia photo

The city site eng.debrecen.hu adds the final flavoring. “Debrecen is one of the cultural and social centers of Hungary for almost half a century, and has been dedicated to establish and maintain a remarkable and outstanding cultural credo. Since 1538 the most marvelous minds of Hungarian culture and science learned in the famous Reformed College. The Museum of the College has an outstanding collection of 17 000 pieces and its library owns distinctive book rarities, while its collection of embroidery and goldsmith’s crafts also offers a unique experience.”

Along with being a great female wrestler who competes against women, Kimbra also competes against men. Would you like to wrestle her? Here is what one satisfied customer who did had to say.

“As for Kimbra, I’m aware of her pedigree having seen her videos but she REALLY surprised me. Her strength is amazing, when you look at her overall frame she is skinny so for her to overpower was as I said before a surprise. I don’t know if it had to with me not going to gym for over a year but it was a humbling experience nevertheless.”

Kimbra’s DWW pedigree has served her well. Fortunately for us fans, this is one former DWW maiden that continues to wrestle. With such a great training base complimented with her growing experience, Kimbra is a wrestler who will continue to earn and receive world wide praise.

Wrestler Vixen – Femwin

Is there anyone out there that can create a time machine?

You would be in huge demand in this circle. If you could take me back to England about 12 years ago where Festelle produced it’s fully competitive women’s wrestling events; name your price. I know she’s going to be there.

She entertained even when behind. She smiled even when getting woman handled. Win, lose or draw she kept the audience captivated. It’s too bad her career only lasted from 2003-2005.

What was it about Vixen that made us love her?

fciwomenswrestling.com article, femwin.com photo credit

She’s always in my wrestling thoughts, sometimes whirling in out of nowhere. It must be in the sub-conscience. Curvy as a Pacific Coast Highway, feminine as a Southern Belle on a humid day and wild as a teenage girl in full parental rebellion complete with tattoos.

I miss Vixen.

She took on some tough customers in Sarah, Silver, Kirsty, Chichiro and Lucretia. When she took on Tracy in what amounted to a brutal catfight, I wondered what in the world Vixen was thinking of. Straight wrestling with no hair pulling would have been a safer choice.

Does Vixen ever play it safe?

Admittedly our London Princess struggled early in her career, so much so that female submission wrestling industry leader Femwin had this to say about her.

“In early 2005 Topstars considered dropping Vixen from their promotion because she hadn’t won a match and hadn’t shown the necessary aggressiveness to be a submission wrestler. However, in March of 2005 this girl from London, England wrestled at our Surrey tournament and was much more impressive than she had been previously. Not only did she show up looking very sexy with a more toned body she also displayed a lot of confidence and wrestled aggressively.”

My favorite match was when she mounted an attack against the Japanese free agent Elli. Here was the description of the match.

“Festelle’s own Vixen takes on another Japanese girl Elli in a gritty trial of strength. Elli elects to fight in a dress which does little to conceal the fairly brutal woman beneath. Vixen however proves up to the challenge.”

Have you ever heard the expression that good girls like the bad boys? Sometimes it can be the other way around. I wouldn’t say Vixen was a bad girl but I sense a very independent one. Like watching a movie actress you’d love to have an adventure with, I’m certain many male customers felt that for Vixen.

I deeply miss Natalie Wood.

If there was ever an actress that played the ill-fated beautiful young lover to perfection it was the San Francisco born thespian. The expressions of excitement, the sighs of despair and mostly the ability to project profound sadness made watching Natalie’s films at times unbearable.

Her master pieces include Miracle on 34th Street, Splendor in the Grass, Rebel Without a Cause, and West Side Story. Another one that got panned by the critics but still could tug at heart strings was This Property Is Condemned where her character against all odds decides to take a risk, leave her small town and find love in New Orleans.

So much of life is about taking risks and pursuing adventures with beautiful strangers while you are still young.

Our young beauty Vixen is from London, England.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia photo

Even without a time machine, let’s travel back and look at London in 2003 and in some ways understand the culture that helped form our Festelle maiden.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia photo

So much has happened in between but do you remember this as reported by telegraph.co.uk.

“Britain witnessed its largest demonstration yesterday when an estimated one million protesters took to the streets of London to oppose the looming war against Iraq.

Those taking part in the London protest included the Rev Jesse Jackson, Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, and leading names from the world of show business, including Harold Pinter, the playwright, and Harry Enfield, the comedian.”

This historic event reported in newscientist.com scorched the headlines as well. “At least 35,000 people died as a result of the record heatwave that scorched Europe in August 2003, says an environmental think tank.

The searing August heat claimed about 7000 lives in Germany, nearly 4200 lives in both Spain and Italy. Over 2000 people died in the UK, with the country recording is first ever temperature over 100° Fahrenheit on 10th August.”

As they have proved for decades, the British youth have been innovators in music and fashion. Vixen began her wrestling career in her early twenties and her stylish hair-cuts and unique body art were an indication of her charismatic fashion sense.

Though later she would be in the thick of it, hotly contesting any match, in the early phases of her wrestling career what often captivated audiences was Vixen’s shapely hips and feminine response to her matches. At times, when she was getting soundly dominated by another feminine woman, it was as though Vixen would melt into her arms conceding one submission after another.

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go”……………T. S. Eliot

Beautiful as she was, she probably was not the mirror image of the girl the conservative British lad would take home to mum yet by the same token he couldn’t resist her.

In Natalie Wood’s timeless gem, Splendor InThe Grass, the character Bud, played by Warren Beatty did not imitate what Natalie’s character did risk in the film This Property Is Condemned. Instead he played it safe. He had a chance to run away with his true love and allowed family pressure to shackle him. It was a decision both teens never truly recovered from.

Part of the lure of the women’s wrestling world when you attend a session or an event, is that you are allowed to participate in and be enveloped by the fantasy world where dreams often come true. It’s the remote tropical island that most dream to escape to from their stressful real lives that aren’t what they hoped for.

Youthful Vixen was a girl to dream about.

She had an air of complexity, daring and non-conformity that matched her beauty. She didn’t seem to be for the faint of heart. That’s the magic in adventures with unpredictable girls. Nothing is guaranteed.

What I learned in my youth from the memory passages I love to relive as opposed to the many where I played it safe and choose not to remember is a timeless poem by Hannah Kahn:

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia photo

Ride a wild horsewith purple wings
Striped yellow and black
except his headwhich must be red.

Ride a wild horse
against the sky – hold tight to his wings

before you die
whatever else you leave undone
once
ride a wild horse
into the sun.

In my dreams, I’m young, it’s 8pm, and Vixen is waiting, wondering if I’ll really have the guts to show. Not only do I show, no luggage in tow, I’m dressed in black, except for the eyes in my head, which must be read. I briskly take her hand held out like a wing; clasp it tight, we run wild, screaming down the bustling London street towards the departing train…….

And never look back.

Dynamo UK Wrestler

Dynamo is a dynamic name for a female wrestler especially when the name matches the game.

As a fan I have been watching Dynamo wrestle, primarily in various locations in England for years. There are so many adjectives that come to mind that can describe Dynamo’s wrestling from skillful and creative to very persistent.

Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in”.…….Bill Bradley
fciwomenswrestling.com article - sessionmatch.com photo

Still, we thought about another stronger word that would creatively describe a dogged creative wrestler and that word is……………….. stick-to-itiveness. If anyone has the ability to see a match through from start to finish it’s our star wrestler Dynamo.

In terms of taking on the best, few have a better resume. Whether its private matches or public events, she has met them head on. Her list includes Lina, Monica, Viktoria, Taz, Antscha, Kassidy, Katarina and Thunder amongst others.

She expresses herself well too. “I have been in the business since 2007; I have a black belt in Taekwondo and am happy to include this into sessions.  I love to beat men; I like the feeling of superiority and domineering.  I also enjoy a good tussle to keep the cobwebs at bay!

I have now opened my own wrestling venue, Dee’s Wrestling Den in Wokingham, Berkshire.  A well-equipped matted studio with a fully equipped dungeon.  I can also accommodate travelling/visiting wrestlers.

In London I am based in London at Monica’s Wrestling Centre and travel to Pippa L’Vinns Wrestling factory in Manchester several times a year.”

In a telling interview with Michael Cross, when asked what advice she would give to women looking to get into the sport, Dynamo replied with an answer that helps us understand why she has successful staying power as a competitor.

Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success”.……Napoleon Hill

“Don’t go into thinking it’s just a quick way of making money, it takes time, dedication, training, marketing, networking and a period of time to get yourself known in the industry.  Work hard and it rewards.”

The widely respected female wrestling organization Festelle agrees. Dynamo was a star to be reckoned with at Festelle’s first live event after they have been dormant for some time. The promotion was hosted at Dynamo´s wrestling den in Wokingham. They state “The aim is to bring together girls from different areas and agencies that would not normally meet at agency events, in the continuing efforts to bring even greater variety to our customers.”

That they did in an entertaining affair that also included female wrestlers Luna, Cherry Bomb and Gail Gilette.

Female Competition International loves to promote our great female wrestling industry, its competitors and the locations where they session. Part of our thinking is that if you decide to have a session with a beautiful girl, make a day of it with some sight-seeing, good food complete with some knowledge of your surroundings.

Dynamo often sessions in Wokingham so why don’t we travel there and see the sites.

fciwomenswrestling.com article - wikimedia photo

The respected news and information source theguardian.com provides us with some surprising information you may not have heard of regarding this model community.

“It’s almost enough to make you want to pack up, move to a Berkshire market town and take your chances. According to a new report published by Public Health England, Wokingham has the lowest premature mortality rates of all local authorities in England, with 200 deaths under the age of 75 per 100,000 (Manchester, which came out worst, had 455).

Residents of Wokingham – not just the town itself, but the local authority area that covers part of Berkshire – are used to coming top in these sorts of quality-of-life surveys. According to a 2007 study by Halifax, the town was named best in Britain; average earnings of £744 a week put Wokingham residents in the top 5% earners in the country, and 84% owned their own homes, despite house prices being higher even than the south-east average. Last year, another survey named Wokingham as the best place to bring up a family, citing low crime rates and good schools.”

fciwomenswrestling.com article - wikimedia photo

Another great news site .dailymail.co.uk agrees. Those who live there probably know already… and would perhaps prefer to keep the secret to themselves.

But today Wokingham is hailed as the most desirable place in England and Wales to bring up a family.

Situated on the commuter belt 33 miles outside London with a population of 30,000, the Berkshire market town has little in its history to mark it out as a prime location.”

Finally Wikipedia provides you with the potatoes and stew. “Wokingham is a market town and civil parish in Berkshire in South East England about 33 miles (53 km) west of central London. It is about 7 miles (11 km) east-southeast of Reading and 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Bracknell. It contains an area of 557 acres (0.9 sq. mi) and, according to the 2001 census, has a population of 30,403. It is the seat of the Borough of Wokingham, and forms part of the wider Reading/Wokingham Urban Area.

Train services to Reading, London Waterloo and Gatwick Airport run from Wokingham railway station.”

Well, there you have it. Everything we have read and heard about Dynamo is great so if you want to book a session with her, we suggest that you make a day of it as well.

After enjoying Dynamo’s wrestling matches for years, it’s always nice to see a beautiful woman remain dedicated to our great industry. Dynamo not only has the dedication but the creativity and talent to present a dynamic grappling show.

Rachel Dubois Wrestler

[intro] There is something magnetic about watching Toronto’s Rachel Dubois. You can’t help but feel something.
[/intro]

It’s hard to place a finger on it or pin it down but it’s there.

It reminds me of when I when to my high school reunions and I would see women who were once girls that I was mesmerized with and frightened of from a distance. When they were young, they were usually the beautiful types full of challenge and dare and if you were a male of courage, you could enter into their hypnotic often erotic and electric world where there was rarely a dull moment.

The timid or frightened need not apply.

fciwomenswrestling.com article - wikimedia photo

I’ve never met Rachel but looking at her photos, with her runway model looks, I feel something powerful, erotic and hypnotic.

[pullquoteleft] “Thoughts are the shadows of our feelings – always darker, emptier and simpler”…..Friedrich Nietzsche
[/pullquoteleft]

Singer songwriter, Morris Albert, born in Sao Paulo, Brazil captured what I feel in the 1975 classic, “Feelings.”

According to cagematch.net, Rachel’s ring career began in 1969 and finished in 1974, right before Morris made his classic.

She was considered wrestling royalty being the daughter of Wildman McKigney – who had a brief but memorable ring career. We preach constantly at FCI that women wrestlers travel the world yet Rachel had a more limited wrestling journey, according to research, primarily wrestling around the Ontario, Canada area.

fciwomenswrestling.com article - wikimedia photo

According to wrestlingdata.com, Rachel was born in Toronto, Canada. Let’s visit one of the world’s great cities.

fciwomenswrestling.com article - wikimedia photo

The fantastic information site Wikipedia shares, “As Canada’s commercial capital, it is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange and the five largest banks in the nation. Leading economic sectors in the city include finance, business services, telecommunications, aerospace, transportation, media, arts, publishing, software production, medical research, education, tourism, and engineering. Toronto is considered an alpha world city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network and is placed among the Global Leaders in the Global Financial Centers Index. The city is also consistently rated as one of the world’s most liveable cities by the Economist Intelligence Unit and the Mercer Quality of Living Survey.

Toronto is a city of high-rises, having 1,800 buildings over 30 meters (98 ft.).

fciwomenswrestling.com article - wikimedia photo

Toronto theatre and performing arts scene has more than fifty ballet and dance companies, six opera companies, two symphony orchestras and a host of theatres. The city is home to the National Ballet of Canada, the Canadian Opera Company, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Electronic Ensemble, and the Canadian Stage Company. Notable performance venues include the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, Roy Thomson Hall, the Princess of Wales Theatre, the Royal Alexandra Theatre, Massey Hall, the Toronto Centre for the Arts, the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatres and the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts (originally the “O’Keefe Centre” and formerly the “Hummingbird Centre”).”

In a February 28, 2014 article the New York Times adds, “At present, Toronto is home to one of the largest Somalian populations outside of Africa; Sri Lankans have settled in the Jamestown neighborhood, while Iranians have established a firm foothold in North York. One paradox of Toronto is that even as the city enables new arrivals to assimilate into Canadian life — people talk about how a certain neighborhood was originally home to immigrants from one area, who then moved on to a more prosperous district, making room for the next wave of people from somewhere else — its ethnic neighborhoods are strongly evocative of their residents’ countries of origin, and the shops (and most notably the restaurants) seem more authentic than they do in other cities to which immigrants have imported their culture and their cuisine.

fciwomenswrestling.com article - wikimedia photo

At restaurants in Toronto, I notice racially and ethnically mixed groups of friends even more often than I do in New York neighborhoods celebrated for their diversity. I see a much wider variety of visitors to the city’s excellent museums: classes of children lying on the floor and drawing at the Royal Ontario Museum, which features stellar collections of Asian and Middle Eastern art and of Canadian painting, and at the Art Gallery of Ontario, where popular recent exhibitions have included shows of Ai Weiwei’s work and of ephemera connected with David Bowie’s career.

fciwomenswrestling.com article - wikimedia photo

Everywhere, glimpses of residents going about their daily routines — the Sikh policeman directing traffic, the Vietnamese and Filipino reporters broadcasting the TV news, novelists from the Caribbean reading their work at the city’s annual International Festival of Authors — testify to the welcome that Toronto has given the immigrants who have sought refuge here.”

A fascinating village to spend time in.

During Ms. Dubois reign, her most notable feuds were with Beverly Shade and Carmen Monge.

The world in the early 1970s was a very different place. While Rachel was wrestling on the mats, what was the world wrestling with?

The site that walks us back in time, history1900s.about.com shines the spotlight. In 1970, the Beatles finally break up and the computer floppy disk was introduced. The world was shocked by the Kent State shootings. In 1971 VCRs were first introduced. The year 1972 was a busy one. The long running TV show MASH premiered, Mark Spitz wins seven gold medals, pocket calculators were introduced and now for two blockbusters; the Watergate scandal broke and terrorists attack the Olympic Games in Munich.

Let’s move up the timeline to 1973. Roe vs Wade legalize abortion in the U.S., Paul Getty was kidnapped, the Sears Tower was built and the U.S. pulls out of Vietnam. Finally in 1974, Rachel’s final year competing, Patty Hearst was kidnapped; serial killer Ted Bundy begins his killing spree and President Nixon Resigns.

A person is influenced so much by the village they were raised in and the time period they lived in that it often emanates from them.

[pullquoteright] “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it”.………….William Arthur Ward[/pullquoteright]

The female wrestling world would have benefited to see Rachel wrestle for a longer period of time. When looking at her photos you can see she certainly had the charisma and sense of humor to entertain much longer.

There seemed to be something behind that knowing smile, the sexy sultry looks and youthful maturity.

Rachel Dubois could be a star in any time period. I surmise that because truthfully, when I look at her, I feel something very powerful.

Petra DWW Amazon!

Petra of DWW fame has a body of work that is quickly becoming folklore.

The beauty of fantasy and folklore is that they are often better than reality.

Creating exceptional and imaginative work, Juliet Marillier the well-received New Zealand writer of fantasy novels was quoted as saying, “I’ve loved fairytales, folklore and mythology since I was a small child, and I think it was inevitable that they would influence my style and my development of stories.”

The DWW female warriors who rose to great heights in the fully competitive female submission wrestling world during the 1990s are quickly become legends in their own time. One of the most popular and formidable is the Amazon Princess named Petra.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, DWW Galaxy photo

In this business size does matter and Petra with her dominating frame and beautiful strong legs has notched one lop sided victory after another over one of the best female wrestling who’s who guest list that has ever existed. Her erotic victory over the shapely Adriena is legend. Back in the day, the snail mail video days that is, any time DWW released a tape entitled “Big” or “Large” girls, I had to have it because I knew Petra would be on it.

I have watched many of Petra’s matches over the years and I don’t recall her ever losing to anyone. Yes she has been pinned but often gathered herself to go on to victory. Only once did she seem to succumb to a rib injury but other than that, her wrestling record is one of perfection.

When you watch Petra, it’s easy to become spellbound by the magic of the folklore of the Amazon female warrior tribes.

[pullquoteright] “I think that we need mythology. We need bedrock of story and legend in order to live our lives coherently.”…….Alan Moore
[/pullquoteright]

The great information source Wikipedia shares, “The Amazons, also known as Oiorpata in Iranian and Scythian, are a nation of all-female warriors in Greek mythology and Classical antiquity. Herodotus placed them in a region bordering Scythia in Sarmatia (modern territory of Ukraine). Other historiographers place them in Asia Minor, or sometimes Libya.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia commons photo

Notable queens of the Amazons are Penthesilea, who participated in the Trojan War, and her sister Hippolyta, whose magical girdle, given to her by her father Ares, was the object of one of the labours of Hercules. Amazonian raiders were often depicted in battle with Greek warriors in amazonomachies in classical art.

The Amazons have become associated with many historical people throughout the Roman Empire period and Late Antiquity. In Roman historiography, there are various accounts of Amazon raids in Asia Minor. From the Early Modern period, their name has become a term for female warriors in general.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia commons photo

The respected site, britannica.com adds, “Ancient Greek works of art often depicted combats between Amazons and Greeks, and the confrontation between Theseus and the Amazons was a particular favorite. As portrayed in these works, the Amazons were similar in model to the goddess Athena, and their arms were the bow, spear, light double ax, a half shield, and, in early art, a helmet. In later art they were more like the goddess Artemis and wore a thin dress, girded high for speed; on the later painted vases their dress is often peculiarly Persian.”

The beautiful Amazonian Petra has a legion of fans. She has been enshrined into The DWW Hall of Fame.

The site wrestlewiki.com provides a nice description. “Petra has wrestled exclusively for DWW. She is considered one of the best wrestlers in DWW’s history to ever grace the mat. Her strength, aggressiveness along with great lower body strength allowed her to defeat most of the women and men in DWW.”

Many say their favorite Petra match was against the great Luzia but often this writer has found those matches to be mostly one sided. I loved it when she wrestled competitors closer to her size which seemed more fair, but even still, Petra managed to dominate.

In terms of her interests, the DWW site relates she enjoys cycling, reading, Chinese food, cooking and very American like, country music.

Petra’s speaks Czech. Let’s visit the village that helped form our heroine.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia commons photo

Wikipedia informs, “The Czech Republic is a landlocked country in Central Europe. The country is bordered by Germany to the west and north-west, Austria to the south, Slovakia to the east and Poland to the north-east. Prague is the capital and largest city, with 1.3 million residents. The Czech Republic includes the historical territories of Bohemia and Moravia, and Czech Silesia.

The Czech Republic maintains a welfare system that provides universal health care and tertiary education for its citizens.

The Czech Republic also ranks as the ninth-most peaceful country in Europe, while achieving the best performance in democratic governance and infant mortality in the region. It is a pluralist parliamentary representative democracy with membership in the European Union, NATO, the OECD, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and the Visegrád Group.

fciwomenswrestling.com article, wikimedia commons photo

The Czech Republic has a temperate continental climate, with warm summers and cold, cloudy and snowy winters. The temperature difference between summer and winter is relatively high, due to the landlocked geographical position.”

That sounds wonderful!

In terms of her fighting style Petra enjoys dominating her opponents with the dreaded school girl pin and face sit.

As far as my wish list goes, a competitor I was hoping to see her compete against more often was the tall, strong and beautiful thigh shapely Daniela who carved out a sizable number of victories on her own. I would love to have seen Petra fight outside of her DWW pond against larger American girls like Kristie Etzold, Rapture, Christi Ricci or Canadian stars like Cindy Huntress and Flame Dragon.

There is an expression that fantasy is better than reality but I don’t think that holds true in Petra’s case. It’s so enjoyable to watch her wrestle that it’s hard to imagine any fantasy that could live up to the artistry and energy of her wrestling reality.
