August 28, 2023,

They are chasing one another around like Ali and Frazier.

Around the globe.

With powerful results.

Claressa Shields signed a new deal with the PFL, and now, so has her super rival, Savannah Marshall.

We recently wrote about Claressa Shields, now it is time to meet Savannah.

Super Star Boxing Champion Claressa Shields Re-Signs With PFL

Savannah Marshall is a British boxer, winning the UK’s first ever women’s amateur boxing world championship. She has been nicknamed as the ‘Silent Assassin’ due to her innate shyness.

Still waters run deep.

Savannah has held world championships in two weight classes: the undisputed and Ring magazine female super-middleweight title since July 2023; and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) female middleweight title from 2020 to 2022.

As an amateur, she became the first British female world champion after securing gold at the 2012 World Championships.

As of October 2022, she is ranked as the world’s second best active female middleweight by BoxRec and by The Ring organization.

What got this British dynamo started?

Savannah began boxing age 12, when she joined a local Hartlepool Headland club after seeing a boy showing off his trophy on the street and decided she wanted one.

The, if he can do it, so can I, theory.

She went to her local boxing club with two of her girlfriends to check it out. However her friends only went once and decided not to go back. Understandably. The club had no girls training at this time and had constantly tried to discourage Savannah.

Our future slugger was not deterred. She kept coming back.

She stated that she thinks the trainer looked at her as ‘an annoying little girl who kept on coming back’ but she was determined, having fallen in love with the sport.

Guess what eventually happened. A sign of major respect. A major life lesson.

They learned to accept her and began to support her.

So it began.

And now?

She is chasing Claressa for another big matchup and pay day.

On August 23, 2023, the informative industry source boxingscene.com shared, “Undisputed super middleweight champion Savannah Marshall is pressing to get back in the ring with Claressa Shields – and she’s now targeting a second fight in two different sports.”

Now, the two champions have an opportunity to meet in battle in the PFL, since Claressa singed with the PFL, as well.

Savannah distributed Claressa’s only defeat in boxing with a decision win in the amateurs.

The boxing super star got revenge in the pros by handing Savannah a ten round unanimous decision loss, last October, to become the undisputed champion at middleweight.

Time for the trilogy.

We love trilogies in books and movies.

Now female boxing.

Read on about Savannah’s big signing.
