October 27, 2022,

It’s a hard knock life, says someone who survived the School of Hard Knocks.

It is one of the most well-traveled schools in an increasingly volatile world.

Is it better to travel that road than the one of wealth where virtually everything has been handed to you and your future has been charted out for you?

That is most likely open for debate.

Those in our circle who have traveled a self-made road unanimously agree, they prefer the hard knock road.

Now that they survived it. Wasn’t so great at the time.

Strewn with rocks that irritate your feet and boulders that must be moved to go forward, they sense that is where you learn the most.

The super star wrestler Leyla Hirsch was an orphan.

Did she have a hard knock life? In most ways she didn’t seem to think so.

But again, it depends upon who you ask.

There is more here than meets the eye.

We can see it in her eyes, as she stares across the ring at her opponent and stays within character for the crowd.

Which can’t seem to get enough of her.

We certainly can’t.

We love Lady Pro Wrestler Leyla Hirsch for a variety of reasons.

First of all we love her looks. Sensuous thick legs, blessed with sublime feminine muscle.

Gorgeous girl.

We also like her spirit. She really brings it. Full on.

Leyla Hirsch is a Russian-born American professional wrestler currently signed to All Elite Wrestling.

All Elite Wrestling, commonly shortened to AEW, is an American professional wrestling promotion based in Jacksonville, Florida.

It is considered the second largest wrestling promotion in the United States behind WWE.

Did you know that? We sure didn’t.

AEW is owned by Shahid Khan and his son Tony, who founded the company in 2019.

Its headquarters are located at TIAA Bank Field, the home stadium of the NFL‘s Jacksonville Jaguars, a team also owned by Shahid Khan.

Since October 2, 2019, AEW has produced a two-hour weekly television show, AEW Dynamite, airing live on TBS in the United States. The show originally aired on TBS’s sister channel, TNT, from October 2019 to December 2021. It also airs another weekly television program on TNT, AEW Rampage, since August 10, 2021, along with two YouTube-exclusive shows: AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation.

CBS Sports described AEW as “the first company with major financial backing to take a swing at beginning to compete with WWE on a major level in nearly two decades.

Leylah is plying her trade with the big girls and boys.

Our rising star was born in Moscow.

She was adopted by an American couple at the age of 8, and grew up in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey.

At the age of 15, she began amateur wrestling in high school and college.

We researched her freestyle career and found it to be intriguing.

Here is part of her freestyle wrestling record that we found.

Matches:

Fargo 2015, lost to Brianna Csontos 6-18.

Fargo 2015 Michaela Beck 0-10

Angeles Cabado 6-12

Haley Augello 0-13

Anesia Ramirez 0-10

Brittany Bates 4-12

Are you noticing a pattern?

Wrestling in college, in the freestyle world, appeared to be a challenge for Leyla. A hard knock life. So she appears to have made a bold and bright decision.

Go pro.

Learn from it, but leave this hard knock freestyle life behind.

As you can see, her story is not common. There is a lot to unpack.

Leylah grew up in an orphanage in Russia and spent 8 years there.

In an interview with wrestlinginc.com they quote her as expressing, “They have like a whole system for us, we had a whole routine when we would eat, go out, go to bed, they were very strict. You had some people that were nice, some people that weren’t the nicest. The one thing that I loved about Russia was food. I love Russian food, I love it.

I wasn’t the best kid, I got in trouble a little bit, because I loved to fight. Sometimes that would cost me. I would say it was a great experience, but also not such a great experience, but I feel like I’ve learned so much. Being adopted has changed my whole life.”

You can indeed learn a lot from the hard knock life.

This may surprise you.

According to the team at americanadoptions.com, “Orphanages are common in pop-culture adoption stories — but the truth about modern orphanages in the U.S. is a lot different. While there are still many children in need of permanent adoptive homes, today’s domestic adoptions no longer involve traditional orphanages. Instead, U.S. orphanages have been replaced with an improved foster care system and private adoption agencies like American Adoptions.”

Apparently the adoption process in the United States no longer involves traditional orphanages.

Apparently they are tales of lore.

We can’t help but think of the story of Annie.

Annie is a 1982 American musical comedy-drama based on the 1977 Broadway musical of the same name by Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin and Thomas Meehan, which in turn is based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip created by Harold Gray.

Remember this song?

“It’s the hard-knock life for us
It’s the hard-knock life for us
‘Stead of treated
We get tricked
‘Stead of kisses
We get kicked
It’s the hard-knock life.”

It is an absolute classic.

In an interview with another organization Leyla shared that one day she wants to go back to Russia, for a long visit and experience it fully.

She misses Russia.

It’s not what we expected her to say regarding an orphanage experience but much about Leyla is not what you’d expect.

As you might guess, there are some very famous orphans, like Leyla, that have made the world a more enjoyable and memorable place. According to lists.thefamouspeople.com, some of the world’s most famous orphans are “Marilyn Monroe, Nelson Mandela, J.R.R. Tolkien, Steve Jobs, Ray Charles, Ice T., Ella Fitzgerald, Eleanor Roosevelt, Barbara Stanwyck, Herbert Hoover, George Lopez and Jim Thorpe.”

Listening to Leyla is a great learning experience.

We appreciate how very candid she is in her interviews. Very honest. She’s not in ring character or promoting Tee Shirts or her brand.

Very refreshing.

Our luminary made her professional wrestling debut at Combat Zone Wrestling‘s Dojo Wars: Super Show 4 event on September 29, 2017.

During her time in CZW, she worked with other infamous personalities such as Penelope Ford, whom she faced at CZW Greetings From Asbury Park on February 23, 2018 in a losing effort.

Leylah had a brief run with the Japanese promotion World Wonder Ring Stardom, where she was a part of the Tokyo Cyber Squad stable and often fought alongside her fellow stablemates Hana Kimura, Jungle Kyona and Konami.

As many female American wrestlers have found out, Japan is an incredible to broaden your wrestling and life horizons.

On October 21, 2020, she made her AEW debut on AEW Dark where she lost to Hikaru Shida.

The following day on AEW Dynamite she unsuccessfully challenged Serena Deeb for the NWA World Women’s Championship. On November 11 on AEW Dark Hirsch picked up her first win AEW win against Tesha Price.

Leylah is often described as a highly technical wrestler.

We’ll make life easy for you to take a peak.

One of the positives that stands out about this match is the clarity of camera work and the vibrant colors. Very professional in design. Leylah and Hikaru, the champion, really put on a back and forth acrobatic competition filled with energy from start to finish.

The sound stage and studio settings are incredible. We can see that AEW heavily invests in the quality of the company’s product. As expected, Leylah and Tesha put on a fantastic show. The quality of women’s professional wrestling has clearly improved since we began covering it almost 9 years ago. The MMA techniques that have evolved in other theaters are being utilized her making for a more athletic product.

The women look like fitness stars as opposed to the curvy beauties of decades past.

Leyla has appeared to find her calling. A labor of love.

Reminds us of another classic song from an orphanage.

Remember Oliver?

Oliver! is a British coming-of-age stage musical, with book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. The musical is based upon the 1838 novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

Here goes the penetrating song:

“Where is love?
Does it fall from skies above?
Is it underneath the willow tree
That I’ve been dreaming of?

Where is she
Who I close my eyes to see?
Will I ever know the sweet hello
That’s meant for only me?

Who can say where she may hide?
Must I travel far and wide?
‘Til I am beside the someone who
I can mean something to
Where, where is love?”

A true classic.

Now that Leyla has found her calling, match after match, she is creating classics.

Where is love?

With us. For Leyla.

For us fans, it is watching Leyla do what she loves best, and we love her for doing so.
