August 14, 2023,

Give them credit.

Lots of credit.

The PFL (Professional Fighter’s League) continues to try and sign the best talent in virtually all of the female grappling and combat fields. They are very successful at it.

Another example of that is the signing of boxing super star Claressa Shields.

As reported by clickondetroit.com, “Flint native Claressa Shields, widely known as the greatest woman boxer in the world, is continuing to chase greatness by heading back to MMA in 2024. Shields signed a new multiyear deal to compete in MMA for the Professional Fighters League.”

Outstanding.

Let’s meet her.

Claressa Shields is an American professional boxer and mixed martial artist.

She has held multiple world championships in three weight classes, including the undisputed female light middleweight title since March 2021 and the undisputed female middleweight title from 2019 to 2020.

Incredibly impressive.

There is more.

Our luminary has also captured the unified WBC and IBF female super middleweight titles from 2017 to 2018.

Ms. Shields currently holds the record for becoming a two and three-weight world champion in the fewest professional fights.

She gets things done quickly.

As of October 2022, she is ranked as the world’s best active female middleweight by BoxRec, as well as the best active female boxer, pound for pound, by ESPN and The Ring.

We can tell you are impressed. We certainly are.

In a highly decorated and well followed amateur career, Claressa won gold medals in the women’s middleweight division at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, making her the first American boxer to win consecutive Olympic medals.

Drum roll please.

Claressa was the youngest boxer at the February 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, winning the event in the 165 pound middleweight division.

You can see she is ready to make a statement in the expanding PFL.

Previously Kayla Harrison dominated the PFL news in their early growth. Since she has moved on, at least for now, another star emerged in Northern California’s Aspen Ladd.

The informative MMA source bloodyelbow.com shared, “As for Aspen Ladd, she has no titles to her name as a pro-fighter, but she and Budd were both key signings by the PFL in hopes of keeping Kayla Harrison with the promotion for the foreseeable future. Ladd made her PFL debut in November of last year, defeating Julia Budd by split decision.”

The PFL will continue to make news. Great news.

Signing super star Claressa Shields is fantastic news.

Let’s take a closer look from the source.
