Sometimes your memory plays tricks on you.
Often, they soften the past.
We sense, that is mostly a very good thing.
Not necessarily accurate though.
Our memories of the 2015 era Hungarian wrestler Mara, is soft indeed. She is incredibly good looking and feminine, yet, as muscle girl Xena of England found out and her contemporary Axa as well, though relatively new, Mara is a very good wrestler.
As we are about to perform our match review between Mara vs Czech Republic super star Diana, we desire to revisit Mara’s background without relying upon our memory.
Here is what a Femcompetitor Magazine (femcompetitor.com) writer had to say about her in November of 2014, “By studying how people respond to recent events in their lives, researchers have developed a mathematical formula that can predict people’s happiness based on their moment-to-moment mood swings reports the respected site livescience.com.

Based upon the steady and rapid rise of the young Hungarian female submission wrestler Mara, her coach Tia’s mathematical results for happiness are likely to break the elation scale.
There are several approaches for an athlete to gain experience in their new field of engagement. One approach that we applied in the elite high school sports world was to start a newer competitor out in competition with other newer athletes we were certain they would defeat, thereby solidifying their confidence before they meet the demands of stiffer competition.
The concern with that approach is that when the true test comes, are they really battle tested?
Another approach seems to be employed by Tia who schedules matches for her protégé with the toughest competition right out the gate and propel her to early high level engagement.
The challenge with that approach is that if they get beat up too badly and too often, it could destroy their confidence which could take years if ever to repair.
Fortunately for young Mara it seems to be working.
At her site tiafighting.com, Coach Tia proudly proclaims, “Mara is one of my best girls; pretty strong with a lot of techniques and a real amazon.”

Her opponent Diana is an established champion who was active during the 2014-2016 era and recently made a comeback. Among the Czech girls, past (Lara, Artemis, Alkaia, Venere, Siberia), and present (Julie Silvie, Andy), Diana is one of the best.
This is match number seven of the May 2015 Femwrestle Event. As always, with a public match on the world’s greatest stage, female submission wrestlers will give their best.
It is time to go ringside.
MARA VS DIANA
As they are being announced, the two beauties open with flexing. It makes for a memorable and incredibly sexy sight.
Time to come to the center and engage.
They begin with hand and upper shoulder fighting, with Diana getting the best of it, slowly pushing Mara backwards and finally off of the mats.
They come back to the center.
Diana quickly traps Mara in a forceful headlock with her right arm and takes her down, also applying her body weight from the top. Curiously, instead of applying continual pressure, Diana tries to mount Mara and loses the hold. Mara quickly takes advantage of that and tries to secure a headlock of her own from the top but is struggling to do so.
They are near the edge of the mats, slide off and need to come back to the center.
The two warriors re-engage with hand fighting. A swing here, a swing there until Diana accidentally pokes Mara in the eye.
Mara is okay.
Fighting from their knees, they start again. Diana is the stronger of the two and battles Mara into the corner of the mats where the Hungarian princess tries to apply a floor to sitting Triangle Choke with her legs. They are too close to the corner and Honey asks them to come back to the center.
Since there is a break in the action, just like the US Open in tennis and the new Colorado in college football, from our wrestling realm, there is a star studded crowd. It might as well be a home game for Diana.
From the Czech Republic we see Venere, Lilith and Alkaia are sitting. There is Lucrecia and Siberia standing. Standing as well is Mystique of England, near the fearless leader Anstcha, who is sitting.
Back to the match.
Mara is fighting from the floor position while Diana presses her from the top. They get too close to the edge and Honey asks them to come back to the center again. As they struggle around, Diana finally secures the top position from the side and rolls in into a full mount as the exasperated Mara did not scissor one of the Czech star’s legs to prevent it.
Mara is in trouble.
Diana is vehemently trying to smother Mara out, using her arms as cranks to apply more pressure on Mara’s head. Mara in return refuses to give and keeps trying to flip Diana over, the battle is so intense, once again they are getting near the edge of the mats.
Honey asks them to come back to the center and, if they like, start back in the same position. It really is up to Diana but she is such a good sport and very confident, she is okay with starting over.
They begin hand fighting, back and forth, but Diana is progressively getting the best of Mara, takes her down and then performs a Monkey Flip to land on top of the beautiful brunette. She then uses her right arm to encase Mara in a form of Triangle Choke.
Mara is incredible and refuses to tap. Other girls would have long tapped. She evades the choke but not the potential smother that Diana is steadfastly trying to apply.
This struggle goes on for over a minute.
It is very intense.
Every time that Mara appears to break free, Diana is instantly back on top of her.
A shocker occurs.
Near the edge of the mats, Mara breaks the hold and now is on top of Diana.
She rides her back trying to secure a choke.
She does.
It is a rear naked choke. Diana uses her strength to roll the struggle. Mara hangs on and she even has the possibility of a side body scissor combination hold.
Something becomes very clear.
Mara just isn’t strong enough.
Diana breaks the hold and begins to strategize from the sitting position while Mara is flat on her back.
Another long term struggle ensues from an elongated position. Diana is on top and there is a furious hand struggle. The crowd gasps as Mara traps Diana in a head scissor, from the bottom position.
She can’t hold it.
Mara lunges back on top of Diana. The crowd applauds. It appears they are rooting for the underdog. Mara doesn’t appear to be certain as to what to do. Against a stronger, superior opponent like Diana, from the top position, joint locks would serve her well but she doesn’t seem to know how to use them.
After all, though incredibly talented, she is newer to wrestling.
For some time Mara continues to engage from the top but as Diana flattens herself out in the elongated defensive turtle position, Mara cannot penetrate her armor.
Finally, Diana breaks free.
She flips Mara into a floor to sitting body scissor. Mara then returns the favor. The struggle continues.
We have to say, at this point in the match, it is fascinating to view the expressions on the audience’s faces. They are absolutely glued to this match. Since we have reviewed many Femwrestle matches, many videos show the audience entertained but mildly so.
This one is different.
We suspect that since Mara is newer, many expected Diana to win handily.
She still might win.
Just not handily.
They struggle mightily as Mara tries to control Diana from the bottom as Diana fights for wrist control. Diana swings Mara back towards the center of the mats.
The two go back and forth in positioning until Diana, in the elongated position, with her head and shoulders above Mara’s head, while the rest of her body is pointed away, tries for a headlock choke.
They both appear to be tiring.
Understandably so.
Mara escapes and encases Diana in a non-threatening floor to sitting body scissor for control.
Diana now gains control and lands in a cross body position across Mara’s chest. The beautiful blonde uses her larger body for smother leverage. Mara tries to scissor her from the bottom but the attempt is easily broken. They struggle more, soon Mara pushes Diana off of the mats.
The audience applauds.
The two beauties take a minute to straighten their hair.
The audience intensely watches as one member yells “Mara” and another “Diana”.
Time to engage, for the last time.
They struggle and Diana gains the position of strength, from the top, applies a choke and uses her larger body for leverage. Mara is in trouble. Will Diana, the favorite, finally get a submission?
Not today.
Time runs out.
The audience greatly applauds.
Honey apparently sees what we did, she expresses it was her favorite match of the day and apparently the audience’s too, as no one was talking.
Or leaving.
Which we’ve often seen (Jenna vs Mahea).
We agree. This draw is a moral victory for Mara and a win for fully competitive female submission wrestling on our world’s largest stage.
It is an intense, timeless classic.
