December 21, 2023,

We almost had a chance to meet her in person.

Given her fierce reputation and no nonsense approach to female competitive wrestling, we were salivating.

The event would take place in Las Vegas but the organizer was letting us know that she was on the fence and challenging to work with. Most likely it would be a no. Eventually?

It was a no.

Too bad. We really wanted to photograph, interview and watch Canada’s Cindy Huntress wrestle. We knew that she wasn’t going to be around long.

We were right.

Here is what Femcompetitor Magazine had to say about her back in January of 2014, right after the legendary Berlin Expo, “When it comes to competing in fully competitive submission wrestling, Cindy is truly the hunter.

In the 1990’s, Europe arguably had the best female submission wrestlers in the world. Whenever there were women’s wrestling events similar to Jackpin’s 2008 convention masterpiece in San Diego, the girls from Europe would not only win, but dominate the majority of matches. They were beautiful, widely respected in the submission wrestling community, deeply experienced and had the ability to absorb a tremendous amount of pain.

In their camp, their names were Luzia, Hannah, Dagmar, Edita, Krista, Petra, Vera, Susanne and a host of other beautiful, talented, athletic and highly skilled Danube warriors.

When Cindy Huntress of Canada traveled to wrestle a troupe of other European female competitors, this writer thought she would struggle. Quite the opposite. At times Cindy was so dominate she appeared to be bored.

Cindy is a striking raven haired beauty who combines just the right combination of feminine beauty and athletic muscle. She hails from Vancouver, Canada.”

Those were the basics about Cindy, though, in reality, there is very little basic about the Huntress.

Today she will meet a local girl named Aniela who, in terms of skill, appears to fit in well with the German team, who we would describe as close to entry level.

Here is what Femcompetitor Magazine said about Aniela in a match review, “When Nadine faced Aniela at the Dojo, it was one of the few times that Nadine stood toe to toe with her opponent and the other girl was slightly taller and heavier than her.

That was about the only advantage that Aniela possessed.

In the category that counts the most; skill, score one for Nadine.

It was an interesting and erotic match due to its slow movements. The tempo was almost like a slow roll with each girl taking turns being on top of one another but more often than not it was Nadine coming out ahead including using a painful foot hold to submit Aniela.”

Well there you have the pre-match reviews.

This battle takes place in 2003, in Baltic Germany

Time to go ringside.

CINDY HUNTRESS VS ANIELA

Introductions are made and you can see that Cindy is itching to attack.

Give her credit. She does shake hands.

That is when the niceties end.

As they circle one another, right off the bat, Aniela is back pedaling and passive. Cindy takes that as a sign to attack and she does, securing a tight headlock and taking Aniela down to the mats with a loud thud.

The producer encourages her to be careful.

Best wishes on that.

Cindy squeezes mightily and Aniela, in pain, taps out.

1-0 for Cindy (45 seconds).

Time to begin. Aniela shakes off the cobwebs.

The statuesque shapely German beauty keeps her distance as they both circle. Cindy wants her to engage but that will not happen until Cindy initiates it.

The gorgeous muscle girl does.

She captures Aniela in another standing headlock but soon Aniela breaks out of the hold.

Aniela continues to play stay away. Cindy is getting frustrated and expresses how she is not going to get on the mat. Aniela then says something in German, so her German girls can hear her and Cindy asks what?

Translation. Are you talking smack?

Aniela wisely shakes her head as if to say “nothing”.

Very good idea.

Don’t talk no German smack to Cindy or you will get “yo” butt spanked. Badly.

They circle again. Aniela does try to hand fight and Cindy, fists closed, blocks her every move. One of the German girls expresses there is no boxing. Frustrated, Cindy stops the action, looks at the producer and states, “This is going nowhere”.

The producer suggests they start on their knees “because it’s getting too violent”.

Cindy responds, “Well, I told you”.

We were not there but we researched that Cindy doesn’t like to wrestle women because of what we are seeing here. They cannot compete against her.

They go down to their knees.

The two hand fight and Cindy pulls Aniela forward and downward into a floor to sitting body scissors, crunches with those strong muscular thighs and Aniela painfully taps out.

2-0 for The Huntress (2:59).

Looking a little worse for wear, Aniela goes over and says something to the German girls sitting down. They remain silent.

Hey, don’t get us involved in this. You agreed to wrestle her. That’s your problem.

The two fighters engage from their knees. For the first time, Aniela shows some aggression and pulls Cindy’s head downward and traps her in a floor to sitting body scissor. Cindy is caught and drives her elbows into Aniela’s thighs. Aniela is squeezing but Cindy is unfazed and looks around as if to say, no problem. She then breaks Aniela’s hold and leaps on top of the beautiful chestnut blonde German girl for a smother.

Aniela offers little resistance and taps out.

3-0 for Cindy (4:59).

Aniela is the aggressor again and drives Cindy backwards and tries for a smother herself. The German girls are impressed that Aniela is finally being more aggressive and, dare we say, a little more confident. Cindy uses her arms to fence the German princess off and scissors Aniela’s right leg to prevent a full mount. Cindy begins to break the hold and Aniela starts kicking her feet and almost kicks Cindy in the face. The hold is now broken, Aniela is flat on her back with her legs out and Cindy comes in with her fist balled up.

The producer gets ahead of what potentially could happen and says “No punching”.

Both girls take a minute and catch their breath.

They start on their knees and Cindy waits for Aniela to make a move.

She doesn’t.

Okay, then.

Cindy captures her in a floor to sitting body scissor, then rolls the German girl into a side body scissor, crunches and Aniela taps out.

4-0 for Cindy (6:35).

They start from the knees.

Once again, Aniela is passive so Cindy takes it to her with a smother. As they crash to the floor, Aniela is on top so Cindy abruptly rolls her on her side, squeezes hard and Aniela taps out.

5-0 to Cindy (7:23).

They ready again.

Cindy wastes no time in trapping Aniela to a floor to sitting body scissors, crunches hard and Aniela screams and submits.

The camera has been cutting away in between competition but we get the sense that Aniela is hurt.

6-0 for Cindy (7:50).

Time to begin.

Aniela is passive so Cindy pushes her backwards, Aniela opens her legs and Cindy is trapped in a floor to sitting scissor. As Aniela squeezes, Cindy looks at the camera and begins to whistle. We get it. She is not remotely bothered by Aniela’s soft scissors.

Cindy, still trapped in the scissor, moves forward, folding Aniela like a pretzel and begins to harshly pull her neck forward. Aniela is screaming in pain. The producers both say, watch the neck.

You have heard of the back breaker, right? This is the neck breaker.

Cindy moves forward, capturing Aniela in a folding pin. The German girl is under duress but keeps Cindy in an apparently painless floor to sitting body scissor. When Cindy is ready to pounce, she does. She seizes Aniela in a hurtful Guillotine Choke and Aniela taps out.

Then, with 3 minutes to go, concedes.

Very good idea.

Enough is enough.

The girls do not shake hands.

Cindy dominates 7-0.

We wish we had seen more of Cindy with the mindset, you only look as good as your opponent allows you to look. The hope is that Cindy could have met some stiffer competition because, even in 2003, it did exist.

We never saw Cindy wrestle again after this event.

It was our industry’s great loss.
