When two stories intertwine, so much of the narrative is about intersections.
Where are the athletes at, during this point in time?
Pamela of Italy is an established know entity.
Here is what FCI Women’s Wrestling Magazine stated about our luminary in a December 2021 article, “If you are a serious fan of fully competitive female submission wrestling, then you already know who Pamela Strong is. If you don’t? In terms of being a real fan of our industry?
You’re not serious.
We are serious.
In watching Pamela’s wrestling matches, she has completely figured it out. She is incredibly successful, dominating both the weak and the strong. She has the right answer to virtually every move her opponent attempts to apply. She stays one step ahead of her Fem Competitors.”
Very true.
We take Pamela seriously because she takes her wrestling very seriously and always puts on a great competition.
We haven’t seen a clunker yet.
So, in many ways, since Pamela is a well-known star, in terms of observation, this match is more about focusing on Czech Republic’s Silvie.
We have reviewed many of Silvie’s matches and, at the intermediate level, she is a rising star and someone to take seriously. She thoroughly demolished Hungary’s Kim and DWW legend Zsuzsa along with pounding Germany’s Curie.
That is saying a lot.
Then she get completely woman handled by Kimbra and it makes us pause in our praise, expectations and assessment. Kimbra, a DWW legend, is rock solid but we wouldn’t describe her as elite. As an example, away from her Hungarian turf, Kimbra got worked over by England’s Jade, primarily a fantasy wrestler.
So here, this will be a measuring stick in terms of how far Julie has come.
Having said all of that, it’s Showtime.
PAMELA VS JULIE
This match takes place in a private ring.
The two slowly engage with upper hand fighting around the neck area. Silvie is playing it passively, letting Pamela come to her.
Pamela takes her up on the offer and aggressively takes the redhead down with a headlock.
The Italian star slowly adds to the hold a grapevine and grimaces as she tries to squeeze Silvie out on top. (1:22)
Time passes. From the top Pamela squeezes, from the bottom Silvie resists. Pamela stays on top, lets go of the grapevine and slides forward into the school girl pin position and bends forward.
Silvie continues to resist.
Pamela arms collectively slide behind Silvie’s neck and squeezes.
Silvie resists.
Determined, Pamela rolls her into a fierce side body scissors and also squeezes from the top.
Silvie resists.
Pamela is desperately trying to hold on to her advantage but like gravity pulling earth down a mountainside, Silvie is breaking away. Pamela’s last gasp attempt is an arm bar. Eventually Silvie breaks that too.
She is now completely free (3:19).
Pamela is now fighting from her back, using her legs to keep Silvie at bay.
For now.
The statuesque redhead is hovering above and trying to maneuver around Pamela’s legs, hoping Pamela makes a mistake.
She doesn’t.
Acrobatic, similar to the great acrobat Sheena of Hungary, Pamela leaps towards Silvie’s neck and captures the beauty in a headlock, taking her down to the mats. Silvie slides out of it and keeps Pamela at bay with her legs. Pamela side steps Silvie’s leg thrusts and lands on her in a reverse face sit which she flips around and we’re back to square one with Pamela sitting on top of Silvie, folded over, trying to squeeze the tall girl out in a smother as Silvie attempts to block her, arms folded. (4:15).
Pamela flattens out, hands wide, waiting for Silvie to make a mistake.
This goes on for some time.
Pamela sees an opening and gently rolls Silvie into a side body scissors and squeezes hard.
Now harder.
Silvie appears to be in trouble but remains steadfast and refuses to concede.
Pamela give up on the hold and goes back to the half body, smother position.
Silvie uses her strength to flip Pamela on to her back as Pamela has the Czech princess trapped in a tenuous floor to sitting body scissors. Silvie moves forward putting pressure on Pamela from the top.
Pamela flips Silvie backwards and now tries for a potentially lethal leg and ankle lock.
Silvie breaks the hold but inexplicably sits there passively waiting for Pamela to make the next move and the Italian star does by attempting a Guillotine Choke.
Silvie breaks the hold.
Pamela maintains the top position, lying flat on Silvie as the strong girl blocks a full smother with her arms locked. Acrobatic Pamela now sits atop Silvie and is going for a sitting Triangle Choke.
Silvie recently had an opportunity to be aggressive but sat there and passively waited for Pamela to attack and for the first time is trapped in that Triangle Choke. The porcelain skinned beauty has virtually mounted no offense at all. Yes, she is defending well, but in a war of attrition like this, Pamela is gaining the advantage.
It is still tied but Silvie is the one expending all of the energy as, like a quiet cat ready to strike, Pamela is sitting on top of Silvie, waiting for her quick strike opening, expending less energy than her Fem Competitor opponent.
Silvie’s screams of exasperation permeate the quiet ring as Pamela squeezes and sits on top of the redhead.
This goes on for at least a minute. Silvie is still straining from the bottom. Since, thus far she has mounted no offense, if Pamela closes the deal, this could be curtains for Silvie.
The pressure continues to mount.
Something odd happens. We hear “okay stop”. And since Pamela is on top, we can only assume that was Silvie. We didn’t see her mouth move and since Pamela was not threatened from the top, we’re going to call that a submission for Pamela.
1-0 for Pamela (10:35).
The two warriors begin again from their knees.
Once again, Silvie is more passive as Pamela lunges for a headlock, and misses, thus, for the first time Silvie begins to push Pamela backwards while Pamela fights her off with her legs. Silvie tries for a side headlock but Pamela breaks the hold.
They temporarily separate.
Silvie watches Pamela intensely. This time it is Silvie who has Pamela fighting form the bottom, using her legs to thrust Silvie back as the gorgeous redhead stalks her from her knees. Silvie finds an opening and lands on top of Pamela who is squirming and circling around from the bottom.
Silvie is finally mounting an offense.
Finally.
In a brilliant move she traps Pamela in a Guillotine Choke and won’t let go as Pamela frantically tries to escape.
She can’t and as Silvie, from the bottom, pulls Pamela forward and tightens her grip, the Italian beauty taps out.
1-1 for Silvie (11:00).
Very impressive.
Silvie waited and waited to mount an offense but when she did, it was a good one.
Pamela looks intensely determined. Silvie is focused and once again lets Pamela take it to her. The Italian strong girl leaps at Silvie’s head, takes her down, then traps her in a brutal head scissors.
That was sure quick.
Silvie resists.
And resists.
Pamela scrunches her facial muscles as she tries to squeeze harder. Will she get a quick submission here?
She does. Silvie taps out.
So much for patiently waiting for Pamela to strike. Not sure that is a great strategy.
2-1 for Pamela (12:25).
They are ready to begin again and Silvie does the same thing. She is on her knees facing Pamela and in a perfunctory way, taps at Pamela (patty cake, patty cake, baker’s man, leap for my head as fast as you can).
Pamela is happy to oblige and leaps at Silvie’s head, takes her down and tries to mount her. Silvie seems to be more comfortable fighting from a defensive position and uses her lends to fend Pamela off.
After tying one another up in a tightly wound pretzel form, that goes on for quite some time, Pamela once again slides Silvie’s face into a head scissor.
This time Silvie quickly breaks the hold. She has Pamela’s left arm tightly trapped but Pamela is still in the top position.
Silvie continues to fight Pamela off and it is okay to be good on defense. The operative word is “okay” because is not a great approach to getting a submission if you are always on the bottom.
Like Silvie has constantly been during this match.
Including now. Pamela happily half mounts Silvie and is closing in on a hands behind the neck, crunch and smother.
Silvie resists.
The beautiful redhead has not given up yet but you can see it coming.
Pamela is relentless and determined.
Good thing for Silvie that she is strong. The Czech maiden pushes, pushes and pushes some more to un-plant Pamela from that mount, who rolls Silvie into a side body scissors and squeezes as Silvie is on her knees.
Silvie breaks the hold. Pamela kicks her away.
Silvie is on her knees, grabbing at Pamela’s ankles which Pamela easily kicks away while she is in a sitting, legs out position.
Earth to Silvie?
Bull rush her. What are you waiting for? You’re a strong girl. Force the issue. Again, bull rush her.
Once again, Silvie passively waits and once again Pamela takes off from the floor like a rocket and launches herself at Silvie’s neck and head area and takes the lesser experienced girl down to the mats.
Silvie resists. Temporarily breaks the hold but the relentless Pamela grasps her in a headlock and once again takes her down and lies on top of Silvie’s head, squeezing hard.
Silvie resists.
Time is called.
We let out a great sigh. Intriguing match.
First off, we didn’t realize Silvie is actually very close to Pamela in terms of skills and strength but she is not a risk taker. Silvie really played it safe in this match instead of using her strength and height to bull rush Pamela, catch her off guard and take the fight to her.
Like a sponge, she simply absorbed.
Having said that, fantastic match and kudos to both girls.
We were glued to the screen from start to finish.
