NCAA SANCTIONING OF WOMEN’S WRESTLING COMING SOON?
It took years for the NCAA to designate Women’s Wrestling as an emerging sport, and now, after the inclusion of the women’s wrestling program at Iowa, complete with a sponsorship from the UFC, the possibility of the full sanctioning of women’ wrestling, across the USA, would mean an abundance of scholarship offers to female high school wrestlers.
This is a process to continue to watch closely as many female collegiate wrestling insiders can see this happening with several years. .

Further, in support of that growth, here is an article found at athleticdirectoru.com, “By my count, since March 2020, when the pandemic began, 40 varsity women’s wrestling programs have been added at four-year institutions, representing nearly eight percent of all new sports added. Only esports, with its 47 new programs, has been adopted with more frequency.
According to USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States, roughly 120 collegiate programs exist. The 40 new programs would suggest a growth rate of 50 percent since pre-pandemic levels.”

We can remember back in 2012, when we first began publishing, there were about fourteen.

NEW IOWA RECRUIT
As reported by hawkcentral.com, “The Iowa women’s wrestling program added a big-time transfer on Monday in Marlynne Deede, a 2023 national collegiate champion from Augsburg.
Deede will join the Hawkeyes as a graduate transfer, with one year of eligibility remaining. She is a four-time All-American at 155 pounds and plans to compete with the Hawkeye Women’s Wrestling Club after her college career is over.”
Very impressive. The collegiate women’s wrestling elite, just keep getting better.
The better they get, the more the other NCAA universities on the fence can see and appreciate what a top notch women’s wrestling program can do for their school.
WOMEN’S WRESTLING WAR, PLUTO TV
