September 3, 2024,

Look, it is not offensive to be awe ffensive.

Go on the offense. It is an exceptional strategy in fully competitive female submission wrestling.

When two female submission wrestlers go to the center of the ring to complete, typically they will start with upper hand fighting. It gets real simple. Well, three simple.

First build your arm and muscle strength.

Second improve your hand eye coordination.

Third, have a sound MMA technique.

If you train and improve in the big three, your chances of securing the stronger position on the initial attack, will greatly improve.

Now, a focus on muscle strength.

We like the look of this one.

Sounds amazing to us.

Your upper body is starting to look better already.

Time to use those muscles well.

Eye–hand coordination is the coordinated motor control of eye movement with hand movement and the processing of visual input to guide reaching and grasping.

It’s not about boxing, though hitting that bag can be very beneficial for newer female submission wrestlers.

Why hit that boxing bag?

Hand, eye coordination.

So many competitive female submission wrestling matches begin with upper hand to head and neck fighting.

Exceptional hand and eye coordination will increase your odds of starting the grappling in a stronger position.

There are many drills that can help in that regard. Juggling (best wishes with that one), jumping rope and dribbling the basketball to name a few.

Using a speed or punching bag is one of our favorite hand-eye coordination drills.

Eye–hand coordination has been studied in activities as diverse as the movement of solid objects such as wooden blocks, archery, sporting performance, music reading, computer gaming, copy-typing, and even tea-making.

The best female submission wrestlers do this well. Right at the beginning. One of our favorite examples of a beautiful muscle girl who does this well is Sheena of Hungary.

Here is an excerpt of her battle with the DWW legend Kimbra.

SHEENA VS KIMBRA

The two warriors will begin on their knees.

They start with upper neck and head struggle, trying to pull one another’s head downward to gain control. Kimbra somewhat wins that battle as she pulls Sheena’s head downward, grasps her by the right arm and tries to gain control.

Her control is an illusion.

Sheena is on top and patiently waiting to move Kimbra into a weak position. Both have secured arm wraparound headlocks but, most important, Sheena is doing it from the top.

They struggle but you get the sense that Sheena is setting Kimbra up. Clutching Kimbra’s left leg, a knee to the face with more tactics to come.

Here is comes.

She face sits Kimbra and then attaches a strong right arm bar. Kimbra is in trouble and trying to figure her way out. The only way out, is to tap out. Which Kimbra painfully does.

Sheena leads 1-0 (2:07).

Isn’t Sheena amazing? Every match of hers that we watch, she performs something electrifying.

Once it is time for the takedown, your MMA training must come into play.

Time to walk over to the bookstore.

Modern Submission Grappling: A No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Manual Paperback – August 6, 2024

By Miha Perhavec

“Miha’s amazing analytical abilities and in-depth experience create a book that is absolutely packed with knowledge. This manual is a must-read! – Justin Flores, Olympic Judo Coach, D1 Wrestler & Star MMA Coach

It takes most people roughly a decade to get to the coveted jiu jitsu black belt. Far too many quit along the way for various reasons. The purpose of this book is to ensure confusion or lack of understanding are not one of those reasons. Double black belt Miha Perhavec lays out the key positions and techniques of modern submission grappling in a highly organized fashion. This manual also features hundreds of curated pictures to help grapplers have more fun and success in training and perhaps even competition.

The chapters of Modern Submission Grappling follow the same progression as a jiu-jitsu match, starting on the feet and ending with submissions. The selected techniques, accompanied by plenty of reference pictures, are carefully curated to include only the essentials.”

Appears to be a must read. Virtually every modern women’s submission wrestling match that we watch, the girl who has mastered Jiu-Jitsu and other MMA skills has a distinct advantage in securing a pathway to victory.

Once you learn to combine the three above major techniques, it is important to apply them very early in the match. Right from the beginning.

Keep the philosophy that the best defense is a great offense. Use the above skills to go on the offense early. We’ve seen too many female submission wrestlers who take a passive approach in the beginning, with the thinking, I’ll counter what she does.

Often with disastrous results.

If you are a newer female submission wrestler, strive for great results.

Use upper body strength, exceptional hand eye coordination and basic Jiu-Jitsu skills to go on the offensive early.
