London Event, Kassidy Vs New Girl Amata, It’s All In The Technique
January 11, 2023,
Though, as far as we know, they have never met before, we have a preconceived notion how this one is going to turn out.
In one corner is England’s legendary Kassidy whose resume includes a domination victory over Hungary’s star wrestler Viktoria. Kassidy has been grappling for over 15 years, often with stellar results over newer and good wrestlers, but rarely over the elite.
Amata on the other hand is new to us but not new to wrestling.
She has a background in various martial arts and a third degree black belt in judo.
When we re-visit Kassidy’s resume, we don’t see any credentials regarding MMA training.
We are picking Amata to win this one. Why?
Comparisons abound.
It would be like an NFL quarterback who is described as a “Game Manager”, one who throws high percentage passes, mostly stays in the pocket and doesn’t make mistakes, compared to a gun slinger who can throw the deep ball, fire bullets into coverage and run effectively, sometimes on a designed play call.
The gun slinger will make more mistakes but, on a good to great day, he can thrash elite team’s defenses.
The Game Manager defeats the lower and middle tier teams but rarely defeats the elite teams. The Game Manager can rarely come from behind but mostly ends the season with a winning record but not a great one.
In our female submission wrestling industry, many wrestlers who decided not to heavily train in MMA, vastly experienced though they may be, will always be Game Managers.
They defeat the newer and good wrestlers but get demolished when an elite wrestler with strong MMA skills competes against them.
We see Kassidy as an exceptional Game Manager but feel Amata will have too much fire power for her.
Time to find out
KASSIDY VS AMATA
The two women start with the typical hand fighting but soon it turns into a test of strength.
Push back. Push forward.
Amata pushes and grasps the hardest and takes Kassidy down to the mats.
Kassidy is experienced enough to trap Amata in a headlock as she is taken down.
As we watch Kassidy in her white athletic bikini adorned with flames, appropriate for a super-hot girl with thick legs, we are reminded of how we love watching shapely women wrestle.
Amata breaks the hold and mounts Kassidy. She is in complete control as Kassidy tries to block a smother with her arms folded across her chest.
Now for a transfer of power.
Amata encases Kassidy in a semi-triangle choke and is now using her legs to control the deeply experienced wrestler.
Ever strategizing, Amata now has Kassidy trapped in a grapevine. Kassidy continues to hold steady from the bottom.
The aggression continues as Amata transfers Kassidy into a side body scissors.
She should be able to squeeze Kassidy out, yet she doesn’t. Though trained in MMA, Amata shows a lack of closing skills as she should have submitted Kassidy by now. She doesn’t.
She let’s go of the side body scissors and once again is sitting on top of Kassidy.
Amata now shifts to the side of Kassidy and begins to work her arms. She finds the right lock and Kassidy gives. (6:33).
1-0 for Amata.
Thus far, Kassidy has mounted little to no offense. Let’s see if that will change.
After the initial hand fighting, Kassidy falls backwards and uses her strong legs in a defensive manor.
Amata tries to ward her off but surprisingly, in a MMA move, Kassidy grabs Amata’s left ankle and attempts an ankle to foot joint lock.
She has Amata’s attention but the braided haired brunette does not seem overly concerned and removes one leg and then the other.
The two strong women come back to the center of the mats.
Once again Kassidy finds herself fighting from the bottom as Amata turns the tables and is applying an ankle and foot lock of her own.
Kassidy soon escapes.
Bravo.
There is now leg struggle on both of their parts. Kassidy continues to defend from the bottom as Amata, seemingly somewhat unsure, quietly attacks from the top.
There is a small lull in the action.
Amata continues to be the aggressor but doesn’t appear to have a clear plan. There is more leg struggle and unsuccessful ankle lock attempts.
Amata finally achieves the stronger position, encasing Kassidy in a floor to sitting body scissors which eventually morphs into a head scissor. Amata squeezes hard and Kassidy taps out.
2-0 for Amata (13:04).
Time for a break. Kassidy, breathing heavily, makes it clear that she needs one. Amata smiles and encourages her to take her time.
After some time, Kassidy is ready.
They begin with upper hand fighting and as Amata takes control, again, Kassidy begins to use her legs to fend her off.
Very odd.
We’ve seen it before. Samantha of Italy comes to mind. Typically it is a strictly defensive move employed by a wrestler who is losing, at least in their current match, and they don’t appear to have a plan B.
Amata immediately grabs the top position, in a reverse face sit form, placing her behind over Kassidy’s face and Kassidy struggles underneath, clasping Amata’s left leg in a grip so that she cannot fully face sit or flip around and smother her.
With less than a minute to go in the match, Amata goes into cruise control, even letting Kassidy up, since the match is clearly hers. From the floor, the two hand fight some more, with no one at this point gaining the advantage.
Kassidy grasps Amata’s wrists and pulls her forward, while she herself is on her back which makes it easy for Amata to naturally fall forward into an erotic folding pin.
The clock is ticking and Kassidy does escape.
The match is called.
Amata wins 2-0
While we had never seen Amata before, this match went as expected.
If you have not developed strong MMA skills in the modern competitive female submission wrestling industry, as appears to be the case here with Kassidy, no matter your experience, there is a ceiling on how far you can go.
Amata is skilled but could definitely improve her closing techniques.
All in all, an entertaining match. A wonderful way to spend a leisurely day in the great city of London.
