December 23, 2022,

For those of us who had surgery, for just about anything, we would do whatever we could not to have it again.

Whenever you go under, sometimes you don’t wake up.

Knee surgery typically isn’t like that, but the scars can be horribly ugly.

And permanent.

If you are a female grappler and take your craft seriously and compete a lot, you run the risk of inuring your knee. It appears to be not a matter of if, but when. Of all of your body parts, it is the one to be most concerned about.

Hopefully not in a major way.

So, if you are hurting a little, and surgery is not initially required, what are some steps that you can take to reduce the chances of having to have major surgery?

There are some other options out there.

Let’s start at the book store. Nothing like getting book smart.

Treat Your Own Knee (838) Paperback – September 1, 2012

By Robin McKenzie (Author), Melany Joy Beck (Editor), Jono Smith (Illustrator)

“Reduce knee pain, stiffness and soreness using easy self-treatment techniques that anyone can perform at home. The most recent addition to Robin McKenzie’s bestselling series of self-help books.

Treat Your Own Knee™ presents a mechanical background of knee pain, together with self-management guidelines and an exercise program for pain sufferers. Featuring the same easy-to-use, understandable format as other McKenzie handbooks, this practical text enables patients to engage in beneficial postures, activities and exercises to improve present symptoms of patellofemoral syndrome and anterior knee pain and limit future problems.”

So we love the idea of self-treatment and knee improvement through exercise and activity.

Let’s go to the store. We like this approach. They are not sponsors. Found at Amazon.

Rechargeable Knee Massager with Heat & Vibration, Portable Knee Heating Pads for Arthritis Knee Pain Relief with 3 Vibration Modes & 2 Heating Levels, Leg Massager, Knee Brace Wrap (2 PCS).

“Heating & Vibrating Massage – This knee massager for pain relief has 2 built-in heating pads, which can promote blood circulation, and relieve arthritis pain. The knee heating pads have 2 effective vibration motors, can deliver relaxing massage to deep tissue muscles, and offer an effective heating and vibrating massage experience for your knees.

Rechargeable & Portable Design – The knee massagers are equipped with a rechargeable handheld controller, and the controller has a built-in 4400mAh battery, so this controller can control and power this leg massager for circulation. The built-in battery design makes you can take the knee brace wrap anywhere from a gym to a hiking vacation, not worrying about the cords and no need to find any outlet.”

Good to know.

We can’t say enough in video match reviews how we see our Fem Competitors wearing knee supports when they compete. It may support the knee, maybe even reduce the pain but it is certainly not a solution.

We’re are looking for possible knee pain reduction without major surgery.

We like the thinking and we are open to many ideas.

Including the next one. Check it out.

Kineon Introduces Move Plus Designed To Reduce Knee Pain

GARDEN GROVE, Calif., Dec. 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Recently in late 2021, Kineon introduced a red-light therapy device that uses LED and medical-grade laser technology, that supports the near-complete recovery of damaged blood vessels and cartilage, reduces inflammation and decreases joint pain and strengthens the body’s own unique healing process for faster rehabilitation.

The Move + is a next-generation red light therapy device that uses both LED lights and medical-grade laser technology, to optimize full recovery. For any struggles with joint pain, this device can help with quicker recovery while also restoring damaged tissue. Move+ offers targeted relief to knee pain, helping to reduce inflammation and ease the pain. The Kineon Move+ was designed to solve all of those problems: the wearable device wraps comfortably around your arm or leg, emits laser NIR into internal tissue (which penetrates more effectively than only LED light), and by using three separate laser modules simultaneously internal tissue is treated even more effectively, delivering exactly the right dose with sniper-like accuracy. Better yet, The Move+ uses next-generation Dual-Light Therapy technology, delivering its red light through both medical-grade lasers and LEDs. And this is more effective at reducing pain and inflammation, increasing blood flow, and supporting the near-complete recovery of damaged blood vessels and cartilage.

There are many red-light therapy devices; most commercial ones are ineffective. With light therapy, dosing is as important, or even more so, than pharmaceuticals. Most light therapy products are not designed based on optimal dosing for internal tissue where inflamed, painful tissue needs to be treated. Light therapy panels are comparable to shaking a pill bottle in front of your face and hoping what falls in is the correct dosage. Often, they don’t even deliver the right dosage of red/NIR light, which leads to less-than-optimal results.

These benefits have been validated by a series of clinical studies, including hundreds of human trials. Clinical studies show just how effectively light therapy reduces pain and inflammation. According to Kineon’s Chief Science Officer, Evan Peikon observation, a single 5-minute Move+ session, improved blood flow and vascular health in the treated tissue. Suffering from bone and knee pain is not easy, but the MOVE+ & Science of Light Therapy has put an end to this pain. For more details please check here.
