DWW Golden Era Classic, Czech Luzia Vs Belgium’s Nadege, When Stars Collide

Don’t be sad it is over, be glad it happened.

Very sound advice, especially when it comes to youthful romance, trips of adventure and time long spent with immediate family, close relatives and friends, some of whom are now long gone.

Special moments.

Glory days.

Golden age.

Height of global participation.

All of the above describes the time period when Luzia the Great, faces Beatrice Goffin’s prize protégé in Nadege.

Legendary battles took place in the DWW compound and some of the greatest names in female submission wrestling participated with talented American’s flying to Europe, as well.

It’s been years, so time for a re-introduction to two of our industry’s legends.

Here is what one reviewer of the match stated over a decade ago,“The first item started as a normal wrestling match but soon became so highly emotional that it looked like a real girl fight in the park.”

Emotional indeed.

Luzia was the matinee idol, a gorgeous classy Czech blonde, perfectly built and a quiet tigress in battle. She could defeat most of the DWW girls but some of them had her number like the beautiful strong legged Daniela and heavy set Petra. Even Lonnie, from the famous Virago tribe of San Francisco, defeated her in an international match. Lonnie was not as well known as Grace of Berkeley or River from the North Bay but that day she outlasted Luzia in a tough struggle to seal the victory.

Nadege was trained by one of the best fully competitive female submission wrestlers in the legendary Belgian Beatrice Goffin. We have seen many of her matches and this champion rarely lost. She won mostly on great technique and mental toughness. It is no wonder that Nadege wrestled the same way.

We go by memory now and analysis and we expect Nadege to handily win the match.

Our memory has been proven wrong before.

So, it is time to go ringside, inside the famous DWW padded gray walls and blue mats where the highly skilled blonde matinee idol meets a Belgian warrior, trained by the best.

In a magical time period of lore, long gone.

LUZIA (23) VS NADEGE (23)

The camera man loves her. No surprise there. We all do. Nadege is smiling, stretching and bending in a pre-match workout. She is so beautiful, words can not describe her stealth gracefulness and amazing power.

She only weighs 110 pounds.

In walks blonde Luzia, sporting a ponytail. Ever a good sport, she smiles and shakes Nadege’s hand. No warm ups on camera for her. She is ready to go.

The two legends begin with hand fighting. Luzia tries to wrap her left arm around Nadege’s neck, and secures it but Nadege does her one better as Luzia walks into a left arm headlock while Nadege secures a left arm choke and takes the blonde princess down to the mats and also applies a floor to sitting body scissor as Luzia is bent over. Nadege tightens the grip.

It looks excruciatingly painful as the Czech champion squirms to get away.

Luzia plants her beautiful feet against the wall and tries to push off while she simultaneously uses her hands to try and part Nadege’s ankles who has the star trapped in a python grip. Luzia abandons parting the ankles because the tightening choke is becoming more of the issue. She tries pushing underneath Nadege’s chin and is making some headway but will it be enough?

Luzia uses her right arm to try and part Nadege’s ankles and the left arm to keep pushing Nadege’s chin backwards. She actually is making some progress but Nadege looks so confident as she continues to squeeze Luzia’s neck, in a choke, and crunches Luzia around the waste.

Thus far it has been all Nadege.

Congrats to the blonde princess. She finally breaks her torso free and now can attack Nadege from the top position. Floor to sitting body scissors, alone, rarely submits any competent female wrestler, let alone a super star like Luzia.

They lock hands as Luzia tries using her right leg in a sweep, to capture Nadege in a scissor.

It fails.

They struggle more.

Nadege now uses her legs to slowly pull Luzia backwards and take control of the positioning by also capturing the DWW star in a two arm headlock. If Luzia were on the bottom, she would be in trouble but she is not on the bottom. The challenge is, even though she is on top, she is trapped in Nadege’s grip and can’t seem to do anything with the superior position.

Luzia tries to push Nadege’s face backwards and away, so she can break the headlock hold.

She is successful.

Nadege always appears to have a quick answer as she swiftly clasps Luzia’s right ankle and works it. Luzia is obviously uncomfortable and tries to escape. The blonde beauty gets a massive break by escaping the crunching floor to sitting body scissor.

She must make the most of this.

Luzia leaps on top of Nadege and tries to take control but she must avoid getting scissored.

Unfortunately she doesn’t.

First, Nadege scissors one leg, then two. Once again Luzia is trapped in a floor to sitting scissor. Still, she is fighting from the top. That has to mean something. Nadege continues to control the DWW Warrior with her legs. At only 110 pounds, it is how Nadege uses her mind as well as her body.

Luzia tries a left elbow to the throat but Nadege is not fazed. The Beatrice Goffin protégé latches on to Luzia’s arm, lulls her to sleep and gains the ultimate prize position. She slides her legs up around Luzia’s neck and traps the blonde in a brutal head scissors. As though the life is drained out of her, Luzia’s body goes limp and, trapped in a snare, blocked in the corner, Luzia taps out.

1-0 for Nadege (6:13).

What a fantastic opening struggle. Once Nadege obtained an advantage, even with her back on the mats, she would not lose it.

One of the beautiful aspects of watching the elegant, quiet Luzia in action is that, win or lose, her emotions practically remain the same. She quietly walks into the corner to get a drink of water and converses with her camp.

Time to compete again.

They circle one another, slapping at each other’s hands and wrists. Luzia’s intentions are very clear. She keeps grasping at Nadege’s neck with her left arm, misses a few times but gains her prize and forcibly wraps her left around Nadege’s neck and takes her down to the mats with a thud. More important, from the side, Luzia is in the top position. The question still looms.

What is she going to do with this?

Nadege tries to capture a hold with a scissor, has it for a moment but Luzia is squeezing too tight. Harder. Even harder. Nadege, in great pain, taps out.

1-1 (8:11).

Nadege is bent over and holding her left arm and shoulder. Deep in pain. Will she continue or call it?

A warrior she is, so she will continue. Now standing, she even has a smile on her face and jokes about her arm movement.

Both warriors are ready.

As they engage, both girls are aggressive and Luzia more so as she secures the one arm headlock and forcefully takes Nadege down and even lands on top, sideways.
Watch out for those legs.

Nadege uses her stealth legs to come over Luzia’s head, trying to pull her back and trap her in a brutal head scissor. Luzia quickly inserts her right arm so that Nadege can’t squeeze with abandon.

The two struggle mightily, determined to get the final and winning submission. Who will do so?

It’s Luzia. Incredible. Her brutal headlock then eventual smother proves to be too much for Nadege.

2-1 for Luzia (9:40)

We picked Nadege to win handily and now are in a state of shock.

The two begin to hand fight and head hunt. Luzia’s swinging left headlock is incredibly effective. Nadege tries to stay away from it but can’t. Luzia traps her again and throws her down to the mats.

Enough! Nadege taps out and, due to the shoulder injury, cannot continue.

The Czech Princess wins 3-1.

DWW style, Luzia The Great looks deep into the camera and flexes her muscles. What a command performance.

SUMMARY

What a shocker. We’ve never seen Nadege lose before and thought this was her match to win. This is why you can’t rely upon your memory. Once Luzia figured out the Belgian star’s weakness, she kept coming back to it over and over.

Brilliant.

Hail to Luzia.

Before reviewing this match, we forgot how great the Golden Era of great female submission wrestling was, primarily in the early 2000’s. Especially at DWW.

Never to be seen again.

The great Femwrestle events would come along, post 2010 and those incredible international matches were very high level affairs.

Temporarily, the new elite of the female submission wrestling world.

So, we understand the thinking. Don’t be sad it is over, be glad it happened.

We are indeed very happy the Golden Era happened.

Having said that, please forgive us for being deeply, deeply sad those glory years are over.
